Michael Knowles

Michael graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2021 with distinction in all nine clinical areas of study. During his time at university, he was awarded the prestigious Marshall Swane Award for the top graduating dental student, as well as the Professor J. McGimpsey Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for being the outstanding final year student in Oral Surgery.

Following graduation, Michael completed his foundation training in a busy NHS practice outside Belfast, before moving into a mixed practice where he gained broad experience across all areas of general dentistry. During this time, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry, enabling him to offer a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care.

In 2024, Michael took on a one-year training position in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, further pursuing his passion in oral surgery. He is also currently undertaking a year-long course in Dental Implantology to enhance his surgical skillset.

Now part of the team at Galgorm Dental, Michael provides all aspects of oral care for both adults and children. He places the patient at the centre of the treatment process, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience while helping patients achieve not only healthy smiles, but aesthetic results they feel confident in.

Outside of dentistry, Michael is an avid traveller and enjoys exploring the world with his partner. He is also a keen runner, currently training for his next marathon, and enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends.
